Good to know
- The repealed Federal Law No. 10 of 2017 gave 14 days’ basic wage per year. Decree-Law 9/2022 replaced it and, in Article 22, left end-of-service benefits to be regulated by a Cabinet resolution.
- Because there is no fixed statutory formula in the current law text, this page does not invent one. If your contract (or a later resolution) sets a rate, enter it below.
- Check the latest position with MOHRE or a Tadbeer centre before relying on any figure.
Questions
Are housemaids in the UAE entitled to gratuity?
Decree-Law 9/2022 refers end-of-service benefits to a Cabinet resolution rather than fixing an amount. Any gratuity in the employment contract is binding on the employer.
What was the old 14-day rule?
Under the repealed Federal Law 10/2017, domestic workers received 14 days’ basic wage for each year of service. It no longer applies to contracts governed by the 2022 law.
When must final dues be paid?
The 2022 law requires the employer to settle the worker’s dues within 10 days of the contract ending.
