How it’s calculated
- Non-Qatari: one month’s basic salary for each year of service in the State, up to a maximum of ten months (Article 118).
- Qatari not entitled to a pension: one month per year for years 1–5, 1.5 months for years 6–10, and 2 months for each year after (Article 117).
- Part years are paid in proportion (Article 120).

Good to know
- The ten-month cap follows the published English translation of Article 118. Confirm the figure with your HR department or the Arabic official text.
- Article 118 counts service in the State whether continuous or not, and uses the basic salary of each year for later years; this calculator uses your last basic salary as a simplification.
- Law No. 25 of 2025 (in force from October 2025) adds an optional savings scheme for non-Qatari employees.
- Qataris entitled to a pension receive gratuity only for service above 20 years, in addition to the pension.
